Adam Herbert 'Mike' Payne Jr., age 85, of Thurman, passed away on Monday February 6, 2012 at Holzer Senior Care Center. Born November 20, 1926 in Frankfort, Ohio. He was the son of the late Adam Herbert and Icey Marie Locklear Payne Sr. In addition to his parents he was preceded by four brothers, Charles Franklin Payne, John Albert Payne, David Leon Payne, Jesse Alfred Payne, and by one sister, Cherry Ann Coleman.
Mike retired from the University of Rio Grande. He was a member and Deacon of Corinth Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jessie Mae Hutchinson Payne, two daughters, Carolyn (Bill) Casey of Gallipolis, Sharon (Roy) Winston of Cincinnati. 6 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Two sisters, Kathleen Marie (Roger) Ragland of Frankfort, and Helen Pat (Frank) Harris of Frankfort. Three brothers, Elmer Wayne Payne of Oakland, CA. Billy Lamar (Marty) Payne of Pataskala, and Roger Payne of Hillsboro.
Mike is also survived by two close friends, Denver Keels and Johnny Howard.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Saturday February 11, 2012 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin Minnis officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from Noon until the time of service.
