Alice M. Gillenwater, age 76, of Crown City, died Tuesday evening July 31, 2012 at her residence. Born March 9, 1936 in Crown City. She was the daughter of the late Esco and Cornelia Bevan Brumfield. In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded by a son, Garold Gillenwater, brothers, Hollis, Eugene Brumfield, a sister, Phyllis Brumfield, and an infant sister, Rita Brumfield, and a daughter in law, Elizabeth Gillenwater.
Alice was a retired custodian from Hannan Trace School. She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, and quilting and sewing.
She is survived by, her husband, Donald Gillenwater, whom she married January 8, 1954 in Gallipolis, 5 children, Kenneth (Beverly) Gillenwater, Larry Joe Gillenwater, Ronald (Jackie) Gillenwater, David (Sandy) Gillenwater, and Rita (Tony) Craig all of Crown City.
9 Grandchildren, and 10 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM. Saturday August 4, 2012 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 PM.
Pall bearers will be: Kenny , Joe, Bradley, Adam, Mathew, and Eric Gillenwater.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
