Anna Lou Carter age 96, of Columbus, died Saturday March 28, 2026, at Laurels of Gahanna Nursing Home where she resided since 2019. Born February 18, 1930, in Gallia County, she was the daughter of the late Tanner L and Pauline Wood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Janet Wood, Husband Charles “Chod” Carter and Son, Gary Lee Carter.

She raised her two sons Woody and Gary on a farm in Greenfield Township before moving to Gallipolis in 1969 with her Husband Chod. Subsequently, they bought and operated a tavern on Vine Street, which they renamed from David's Place to the Dock Inn Tavern, where they worked until their retirement. She also took pleasure in being a member of the Gallipolis Elks Emblem Club.

6 Grandchildren: Jennifer (Seth) Rehmert, Christopher (Ashley) Carter, Morgan (Daniel) Lawrence, LeAnn Ratliff, Shanna (Jacob) Lucero, Margart Carter

12 Great Grandchildren: Carter, Grant and Cate Rehmert, Quinn, Noah and Clara Ada Carter, Brooke and Ava Hamilton, Grady Ratliff, Jameson Lucero, Meca Johnson and Elijah Carter.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM. on Thursday April 2, 2026 at Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Hood officiating. The burial will follow in Salem Cemetery in Gage, Ohio. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday April 2, 2026 prior to the services from 11:00 AM. to 1:00 PM.

Pallbearers will be: Mike Carter, Joe Carter, Bryan Carter, Brendan Carter, Blaine Carter and Brodie Carter.
