Annie's Obituary
Anna Lou Dunn-Schroeder Sturgeon passed away September 14, 2024, at Abbyshire Place in Gallipolis, OH. Mrs. Sturgeon was a resident of Point Pleasant, WV, and is survived by her husband, Colonel Jack Philip Sturgeon, USAF, Ret., Point Pleasant, her son Frederick S. Schroeder of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, daughter-in-law, Linda S. Cunningham of Myrtle Beach, SC and beloved grandson Brian Scott Schroeder and wife Cori, of Wilmington, NC,  stepchildren, Scott A. and Amy L. Sturgeon, Los Angeles, CA and Christopher V. and Julie Sturgeon of Manchester, MO, step-daughter-in-law Linda Sturgeon of Brandon, MS, step-grandchildren, William B. Sturgeon of Washington DC, Caroline M. Sturgeon of Brooklyn, NY, Ceana M. and Samuel H. Sturgeon of Manchester, MO, and Amy Lynn Bartelink of Chico, CA. She looked at them as though they were her own grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Fred P. Schroeder, her son Edward D. Schroeder, her parents William E. and Josie F. Dunn, brother William E. Dunn, sister Julia Lee Dunn, aunt Lena L Fogelsong, her beloved brother Bertram F. Dunn, and stepson Michael Sturgeon. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Audra C. Dunn of Bethesda, MD, and nieces and nephews, Malinda, Edward, Johnathan, Andrew, Christopher, Lora, and from Texas, Chuck and Lee Anne and their families.
Anna Lou graduated from Point Pleasant High School, Class of 1953, attended St. Mary's School of Nursing, Huntington, and graduated from Roane State Community College, Harriman, TN with a BSN in Nursing. She was a long-standing member of Christ Episcopal Church, Point Pleasant where she was active in the Altar Guild, Episcopal Church Women, and served on the Vestry. She worked as an RN at Mason County Health Dept and Home Health Nurse at HMC in Gallipolis, OH, and at the Harriman Tennessee Hospital and Roane County home health care.
Annie served on the Board of The Gallery 409 in Point Pleasant and served on the Patient and Family Advisory Council of HMC in Gallipolis, OH. She was an active member of the Tu Endi Wei Garden Club in Point Pleasant. Her funeral service will be conducted at Christ Episcopal Church on September 28th, 2024, at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA, at a later date.
