Arlin E. "Gene" Angel, age 86, of Gallipolis, Ohio went home peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday June 29, 2025. Born May 1, 1939 in Bladen, Ohio, he was the son of the late Lloyd Angel and Elma Lambert Angel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Norma Jean Phillips Angel, whom he married on June 30, 1961; brother, Bob Angel, ½ brother Billy Angel; sister, Eleanor Wellington, stepsister, Linda Mallo, ½ sister, Catherine Victory; grandparents, Crodus Lambert and Laura Clark, whom raised him; brother in laws, Jim, John, Paul and Roger Phillips; sister in laws, Carol and Bonnie Phillips; father in law, Lew Phillips and his mother in law Mary Phillips.

Gene was a retired construction worker, from C. J. Hughes Construction Company. He was a member of the Kings Chapel Church and he had been attending Bell Chapel Church regularly.

Gene is survived by his daughters, Shirley Angel VanHorn and Diana Jackson both of Gallipolis, grandchildren, Scott (Toni) Wright, Angel ( Joe Lucas) Wright and Todd (Katie) Woodall; great grandchildren, Hunter Wright, Layne Wright, Ethan Moody, Ean (Vanity) Combs, Layla Woodall, Luke Woodall and Logan Woodall; 1/2 sister, Roxanna Binion, step sister, Judy Porter,  brother in law, Leslie (Rosemary) Phillips; sister in laws, Doris Sheet, Glenna Cox, Lyne Sayre and Kathy (Jerry) Pratt; and by many nieces, nephews and friends. He is also survived by his companion and friend, Fern Mooney and extended family, Kim (James) Kemp, Lee (Juanita) Mooney, Travis (Brittany) Mooney, Amy (Brent) Burnette and by their grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM. Thursday July 3, 2025 at the Swan Creek Cemetery with Brother Clyde Ferrell officiating. Friends and family may call at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home from 12:30 PM. till 1:30 PM.

Pall bearers will be: Ethan Moody, Layne Wright, Hunter Wright, Ean Combs, Todd Woodall, Scott Wright and Jason Butler. Honorary pall bearers will be: Ed Butler, Travis Mooney and Lee Mooney.
