Barbara A. Ours, age 88, of Crown City, died Friday October 16, 2026, at Holzer Medical Center. Born May 9, 1938, in Gallia County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Kemp and Marie Cantrell Kemp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by a nephew, Jack Kemp Jr. And by a special friend, Clara Jones.

Barbara was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a 4H advisor for many years and an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan.

Barbara is survived by her children, Donnie (Gloria) Ours of Crown City, Max (Julie) Ours of Gallipolis, Vickie (Trent) Hamilton of Pleasant City, Ohio and Cathy (Peter) Smith of Crown City; grandchildren, Chris Biars, Jake Proctor, Amy (Dalton) Thompson and Gage Smith (Kelsea Akers); and by a brother and sister in law, Jack and Jean Kemp of Cummings, Georgia. Also surviving are nephews, James (Kendra) Kemp and Jeff (Melissa) Kemp and by special friends, Nancy Mooney and Gena Griggs.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Wednesday October 21, 2026, at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral on Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.

Pallbearers will be Chris Biars, Jake Proctor, Gage Smith, Pete Smith, Trent Hamilton and Dalton Thompson.
