Berniece King age 89, of Gallipolis, passed away peacefully on Friday February 24, 2017 with her family by her side. Born March 11, 1927 in Pocahontas, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Carrie Dudley Doss. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Rev. John D. King, brothers, Henry Doss, Lonnie Doss, and Ben Doss, and sisters, Helen Cordell and Lucille Craig, 1 infant son, and 2 infant daughters.

Berniece is survived by, 2 daughters, Patricia Armstead of Columbus, Christine Williams of Gallipolis, 4 sons, John 'Ben' (Sherry) King of Columbus, Elmer King of Thurman, Phillip King of Gallipolis and Bobby Walter of Patriot. Grandsons, Robbie Armstead, David Armstead, David Armstead, Jeromy 'Josh' (Sherri) Williams, Ryan (Sara) Williams, Johnny King, Austin (Jessica) King, granddaughters, Macia Armstead, Netta Harris, Skyy King, Erica (Matt) Johnson, Arlinda Penick, Sommer (Robbie) Lively, along with several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Berniece was a faithful member of Paint Creek Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, helping others, baking, and cooking, especially Sunday dinner with her homemade rolls.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM. Wednesday March 1, 2017 at Paint Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Christian Scott officiating. Burial (for the family only) will follow in King Family Cemetery. Friends may call at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6-8 PM.

Pallbearers will be: John 'Ben' King, Elmer King, Phillip King, David Armstead, Jeromy 'Josh' Williams, Ryan Williams, Austin King, and Je'waan Williams.
