Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend, Betty Lou Owen, age 84 of Gallipolis, passed into God's hands from suffering a short terminal illness on Monday, August 1, 2016.

Born on September 20, 1931, in Gallipolis, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Spears and Mildred Harrison Hoffman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband Jack H. Owen and an infant brother William E Hoffman.

She is survived by one daughter Deana (Maynard "Eddie") Ellis. 2 granddaughters; Linda White and Lisa Ellis; and by 6 great grandchildren; Dustin Wamsley, Owen and Ryan White, Trentin, Hayden and Haylee Waller.

Betty was a retired telephone operator from the Gallipolis Developmental Center. After her retirement, she worked at Holzer Medical Center for 10 years. Betty enjoyed playing cards, bingo, going to the beach, dancing, cooking and tasting new foods and spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2016 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Street Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 11 a.m. until time of service.

Pallbearers will be Maynard "Eddie" Ellis, Joe Owen II, Greg Mayes, Adamwayne Adams, Dustin Wamsley, Owen White and Trentin Waller. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Owen, Ryan White, Hayden and Haylee Waller.
