Betty Joe Simms, age 81, of Crown City died Monday, May 22, 2023 at her daughter's residence. Born January 23, 1942 in Gallia County (Ohio Township) to the late Harry Lee Raines and Donnie Masil Birchfield Raines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Charles Dale Simms; brother, Burl; sisters; Evelyn Buttrick and Opal Bower, grandchildren, William Dale Viars and Mark Eugene Simms and great great grandchild, Hershel Dow Stanley.

Betty was a hard worker. She was a good Christian and wonderful mother and grandmother.

Betty is survived by her son, Melvin "Pete" Simms of Crown City, daughter, Betty (Richard) Parsons of Gallipolis, grandchildren, David (Darcy) Stanley, Jammie Simms, and Michael Stanley, great grandchildren, Markayla Simms, Mason Simms, Joshua Allen Stanley, David Lee Stanley, Dominic Dale Stanley, and Harper Celine Stanley, brothers, Jerry Raines of Scottown, and Gary Raines of Scottown, and by her sister, Wanda Garnes of Gallipolis.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Sunday, May 28, 2023 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Miller Memorial Gardens. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 5:00 PM. to 7:00 PM.

Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Buttrick, Homer Saunders, Phillip Stanley, Adam Stanley, David Stanley, and Michael Stanley.
