Billie Irene Thomaschek Paulsen, age 69 of Vinton, passed away on Friday February 4, 2011 at her residence. Born June 23, 1941 in Fairmont, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William and Florence Irene Thomaschek. In addition to her parents she was preceded by an infant son, Christopher, 1 Brother, Robert 'Bobby' Thomaschek, 1 Grandson, Lincoln Parsons and by 1 Granddaughter, Lorry Anne Carroll.

Irene married Karl Mauritz Paulsen in Baltimore, Maryland on November 6, 1959.
She was a loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Sister in law, Nanny, Great Grandma, and Aunt. She was a member and three time past president of the Gallipolis Emblem Club #199 Gallipolis. Irene enjoyed traveling and being a "snowbird" during the winter with Karl in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

She is survived by her Husband, Karl Paulsen of Vinton; 3 Children: Daughter and Son in law, Karla and John Carroll of Gallipolis, Son and Daughter in law, Karl and Stephanie Paulsen Jr. of Burlington, WA and Daughter and Son in law, Karol Leigh and Corey Parsons of Vinton; Grandchildren, Reese (Ronda) Paulsen, Priscilla Paulsen, Molly Irene Carroll, Courtney Parsons, Jill Carroll, and Carter Parsons; Great Grandchildren, Emma Grace and Savannah Bailey Paulsen; and was waiting for the arrival of her first great grandson. Sister and Brother in law, Judy and Butch Holt, Brother and Sister in law, Jr. and Donna Thomaschek, and Sister in law, Myrt Thomaschek. She is also survived by several Nieces, Nephews, and host of friends, and her special family, Joyce and Don Rumley, and Paul Skinner and his family.
Irene was the Godmother of Teresa (Skinner) Harrison and of Jack Simms.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM. Tuesday February 8, 2011 at St. Louis Catholic church with Monsignor William Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home on Monday from 4-8 PM.
Emblem club services will be conducted at 8:00 PM by Gallipolis Emblem Club # 199. A Catholic prayer service will follow.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to either, The St. Louis Catholic Church Project Fund or to the Gallipolis Emblem Club.
