Bobby Gene Back, age 77, of Bidwell, died Wednesday morning February 8, 2012 at his residence. Born February 12, 1934 in Acme, West Virginia. He was the son of the late William Otha Back and the late Rachael Carroll Back Hicks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Norma Jean Saunders Dailey Back, and by a step daughter, Billy Sue Dailey Duffer.
Bob was a retired machine operator. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving in Germany during the Korean War.
Bob was a member of VFW #4464, American Legion #27, and the Ohio Military Reserve. For several years he was a member of the Gallia County Veteran Funeral Detail.
He is survived by one daughter, Kathryn Utzinger of Newark, 2 step sons, John (Sandy) Dailey of Pt. Pleasant, and Joe (Cynthia) Dailey of Bidwell. Three grandchildren, Robert Paul Utzinger of Reynoldsburg, Rebecca Ann Utzinger of Newark and Benjamin William Utzinger of Pataskala. One great granddaughter, Victoria Elaine Utzinger. Three sisters, Sabra Miller of Wellston, Barbara Froesch of Alaska, and Linda Mae Rife of Tennessee. One brother, Sam Hicks Jr. of Jackson.
A Memorial Service with Military Funeral Honors will be 1:00 PM. Tuesday February 14, 2012 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home. Honors will be presented by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday one hour prior to services.
