Celestine Marie Skinner, age 83, of Perrysville, Ohio, formerly of Gallipolis, passed away peacefully on Saturday August 20,2022 at the home of her niece Carla (Walter)Graven.
She was born July 8, 1939 daughter of the late Elmer J. and Marguerite Smeltzer Skinner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by sisters, Dorothy Ann Stiverson and Mary Virginia Clark and brother Thomas Elmer Skinner.
Celestine is survived by a brother, Paul James Skinner of Granville, Ohio. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Michelle (Brent) Simms, Granville, Ohio, Amy (Paul) Burghardt, Ann Arbor, Mi, Cindy (Mike) Chapman, West Palm Beach, Fl, Kari (Eric) Eggleston, Lancaster, Ohio, Teresa (Robert) Harrison, Crown City, Ohio, Carla(Walter) Graven, Perrysville, Ohio, Ronda Hales, Ashland, Ohio, James (Annette) Clark, Winfield, WV, Scott Clark, Ashland, Ohio, Elizabeth (John) Wentworth, Ashland, Ohio, Celestine Morgan, Bidwell, Tommie (Richard) Harless, Jackson, and Jennifer (Nathan) Connolly, Jackson. She Is also survived by 29 great nieces and nephews, 18 great great nieces and nephews and 1 great great great nephew. She was so proud of all her nieces and nephews.
Celestine graduated from Gallia Academy High School, class of 1957. She started work for Ohio Bell as a telephone operator and later as a field engineer and retired from Ohio Bell (AT&T) after more than 30 years of service. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church where she did much volunteer work and was also a former Gallipolis City commissioner.
Celestine was a wonderful, caring sister and aunt and will be greatly missed.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church in Gallipolis on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 1:00 PM. Friends and Family may call at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services.
Burial will be private at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Hayesville, Ohio EMS, 8 High St. Ashland, Ohio 44805 or St. Louis Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
