Clarence Donovan Sanders, age 86 of Gallipolis, passed away on Saturday April 5, 2025 at Holzer Medical Center. Born December 5, 1938 in Lawrence County (Lecta), he was the son of the late Clarence Blaine Sanders. and Alma Beatrice Caldwell Sanders. In addition to his parent's, he was preceded by his former wife, Jenny Sanders and by 2 sisters, Beverly Queen and Elaine Barnes.

He was employed for many years at Westvaco and later at GKN from where he retired. He enjoyed spending time watching nature.

He is survived by 3 children, Donovan Lee (Debby) Sanders of Gallipolis, James Sanders of Jackson and Jason Sanders of Gallipolis, 2 brothers, Dillard (Luree) Sanders of Scottown and Faron (Allison) Sanders of Gallipolis, 3 sisters, Shirley Nolan of Vinton, Carolyn (Dave) Lockhart of Crown City and Brenda Burris of Vinton. 8 grandchildren, Kandus (Steve) Fortner, James (Courtney) Sanders, Jessica (Jakob) Gilbert, Shelby (Gaby) Smittle, Jennifer (Josh) Whitt, Emily Sanders, Madison (Samuel) Payne and Troy Sanders. Also surviving is several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a brother-in-law, Ronnie Barnes.

Graveside services will be 1:00 PM. Thursday April 10, 2025 at Sanders Cemetery #2 in Lawrence County with Dan Neal officiating. Friends may call at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home on Thursday from 11:00 – 12:00 PM.

Pallbearers will be: James Sanders, Shelby Smittle, Troy Sanders, Jakob Gilbert, Brian Taylor and Joe Veith. Honorary pallbearer will be Steve Fortner.
