Clarissa 'Kitty' Saunders Minor, age 79 of Gallipolis, passed away on Sunday June 4, 2017 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington. Born December 20, 1937 in Gallipolis, she was the daughter of the late Earl William and Margaret Hardgrow Armstrong. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her first husband, Arthur E. Saunders, by her second husband, William Minor and by a son, Arthur E. Saunders Jr.
Kitty was a 1956 graduate of Gallia Academy High School and a 1982 graduate of Rio Grande College. She was employed for 14 years at the Gallipolis Developmental Center before relocating to Los Angeles. From 1984 until her retirement in 2004 she was employed by Amtrak. In 1972 she founded, Camp Reliable, a camp of the Gospel Truth Church Mission. Clarissa was a devoted wife and mother, who served God diligently. She enjoyed gardening, swimming and travel. She always put her families and others needs before hers.
Clarissa is survived by, two sons, Richard D. Saunders of Crown City, and Aaron L. Saunders of Gallipolis, two granddaughters, Akeisha and Tori E. Saunders. Brothers and sisters, Earl William (Bonnie) Armstrong of Bellview, NE, Stanford (Juanita) Armstrong of Atlanta, GA, Robert (Patty) Armstrong of Crown City, Rev. Gene (Elaine) Armstrong of Bidwell, Gerald (Su) Armstrong of Atlanta, GA, Mary Lee of Lexington, KY, David (Naty) Armstrong of Chino Hills, CA, Mariam (Lawyer) Pendleton of Detroit, MI, and Lana (Edmond) McKoy of Crown City, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 12:30 PM. Tuesday June 20, 2017 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Armstrong officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of your choice in Clarissa's memory.
