Daniel "Dan" Keith Butcher, 67, of Bidwell was called to his Heavenly Home on Friday, May 31, 2024.

Dan was born on September 27, 1956 in Fairmont, WV, to the late Bernard H. and Delcie (Kibbe) Butcher. He is survived by the love of his life, Kathy, two children, Ryan (Tiffany Ann) Butcher and Tiffany (Tyler) Duncan who will all miss him dearly. He has six grandchildren that he loved and cared for so much: Jackson Duncan, Lydia Butcher, Brooke Butcher, Lincoln Duncan, McKinley Duncan, and Aubrey Butcher. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by two sisters, Kandy (John) Nuce of Gallipolis and Linda (Mike) Betz of Belpre. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Wanda (Ridenour) Butcher.

He lived a life glorifying God and was a member of the Gallipolis Christian Church, where he married Kathy in 1978 and continued to attend with his growing family.

He was cherished by many, but most of all by his family. He and Kathy were set to celebrate 46 years of marriage this June and recently commemorated the 50th anniversary of their first date at their favorite place - the beach.

He was a loyal and reliable husband, father, and pap. He was the family handyman and always seemed to find a way to repair something. His children and grandchildren will always have precious memories of their "Dad" and "Pap".

He was a coal miner for 27 years. A week before the AEP mines shut down, he started working for AEP RSO another 16 years. He was a hard worker and would offer his services to anyone in need. It brought him joy to help others. He will be missed by so many of his buddies from his time in the mines and AEP.

In his spare time, Dan loved being outside which was evident by his dark tan every summer. He loved staying busy with gardening and most of all, fishing. He enjoyed annual fishing trips with his son, Ryan, along with his beloved cousins.

He leaves behind so many friends and family members, everyone loved him just as much as he loved them. In the words of one of his nephews, "The world is a darker place now, but Heaven just got a lot brighter."

Funeral services will be held at Gallipolis Christian Church on Thursday, June 6 with Russ Moore officiating, burial will follow at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends and family may call at the church on Thursday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
