Obituary

Donald Junior Baird, age 74, of Gallipolis died Sunday afternoon November 10, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. Born July 3, 1939 in Gallipolis, Ohio he was the son of the late Henry W. Baird and Betty Butcher Baird. In addition to his parents he was preceded by his wife of 54 years Bobby L. Pursell Baird; 1 Great-Grandson, Colton Baird; 1 Sister, Betty L. Stover; 3 Brother in laws, Jerry Pursell, Ralph Dean (R.D.) Pursell, and Donald Pursell; and by 1 nephew, Craig Pursell.
Donald was a business entreprenauer, Baird's Auto Sales, Baird's 24-hour Wrecker Service, Baird's Body Shop, and owner of numerous rental properties. He entered the United States Navy on September 16, 1957 and was Honorable discharged on July 1, 1963. He was a member of the Fairhaven United Methodist Church and Donald enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
He is survived by 1 Son: Steve Baird of Gallipolis; 2 Daughters: Cheryl (J.D.) McGuire of Gallipolis, and Janie (Rob) Rogers of Gallipolis; 6 Grandchildren: Ben Baird of Gallipolis, Jason Wray of Pt. Pleasant, Jeremy Wray of Bidwell, Justin Wray of Pt. Pleasant, Brady Swain of Gallipolis, and Jewel Wray of Pt. Pleasant; Great-Grandchildren: Bryson Baird, Mason Wray, Tanner Neal, Bailey Wray, Payton Wray, Hayley Wray, Kylee Wray, Josie Wray, Grant Swain, Heidi Swain, Mackenzie Nance, and Khloe Wray; 1 Brother: Paul Baird of Enterprise, Alabama; Brothers and Sister in laws: James (Pat) Pursell, Marcia Pursell, Maxine (Lynn) Northcraft, Kitty (Gary) Leedom, Donna (Chris) Chevay, Sandy (Richard) Morse, all of Phoenix, Arizona, Shirley (Rick) Tallmadge and Gail (Doug) Bergman of Arkansas. He is also survived by several Nieces, Nephews, and by his beloved pet Pedro.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday November 16, 2013 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6 p.m. till 9 p.m. Pallbearers will be the Grandsons: Ben Baird, Jason Wray, Jeremy Wray, Justin Wray, and Brady Swain.
Military funeral honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Detail.
