Donald R. 'Don' Ford, age 73, of Gallipolis, died Saturday evening September 22, 2012 at Holzer Medical Center. Born March 15, 1939 in Good Hope, Illinois. He was the son of the late Enoch and Pansy Duncan Ford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a son, Donald R. Ford, by a daughter, Terry Williams, and by 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
Don was a United State Air Force Veteran. He was a retired truck driver, and a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Don loved to work in his yard, and build and fix things in his shop. He was also devoted to his dash hounds.
He is survived by his wife: Peggy Henry Ford, a daughter, Jill (Michael) Schwarberg of Columbus, 5 grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Dawn, Trisha, and Paula, a sister, Karen Cooper of Ft. Madison, Iowa, a very special sister in law, Roberta Ford of Bushnell, IL. And his mother in law, Hazel Henry of Gallipolis. Also surviving is numerous great grandchildren, brother in laws, sister in laws and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Wednesday September 26, 2012 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Workman officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from Noon until the time of service. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the funeral home on Wednesday by the Gallia County Veterans Service Detail.
