Dora Rosalie Carter, age 93, of Bidwell, died Friday evening April 17, 2015 at her home. Born March 10, 1922 in Cadmus, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Slagle Wagoner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, George E. Carter, a daughter, Betty Jean 'Jeannie' Scholl, 2 grandchildren, Kelly Lynn Scholl and Daniel Lee Carter II, by a sister, Marylene Irion, and by 2 brothers, Vernon Wagoner and John Daniel Wagoner.
Rosalie was a graduate of Cadmus High School. She was a Social Worker at the Gallipolis Developmental Center, retiring after 20 years of service. She attended the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, and was a former 4H advisor.
She is survived by, 1 son, Daniel Lee 'Tuck' (Janet) Carter of Bidwell, 2 grandchildren, Doralene Carter of Bidwell and Timothy Carter (Amy) Scholl of Delaware, 2 sisters, Carma Briggs of Patriot, and Carolyn (Ed) Jeffers of Patriot. Also surviving is her special friend of 50 years, Sylvia Vanmeter of Gallipolis.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Wednesday April 22, 2015 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Alex Colon' officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from Noon until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be: Eric Straight, Tim Scholl, Mark Jeffers, Brent Briggs, Regan Sharrett and Rob Massie.
