Dorothy Margaret Laufer Hanson, age 97 of Gallipolis, passed away on Wednesday February 14, 2024. Born in Palatine, IL on November 20, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Margaret Laufer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, James H. Hanson, whom she married on July 20, 1946, a son, William F. Hanson, brother, David Laufer, a daughter-in-law Joyce Hanson Nickels and brother in- law, Charles Burt (Esther) Hanson.

Dorothy retired as an LPN from Holzer Clinic after many years and she was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

She is survived by a son, James (Sheila) Hanson of Hendersonville, TN, daughters, Carel (Buddy) Blank and Maria Boone both of Gallipolis. 9 Grandchildren, Emily (Mark) Bragg, David (Mary) Hanson, Chris (Stephanie) Blank, Andrew (Melissa) Blank, Amanda (Jason) Breech, Michael (Jodie) Blank, Ryan Boone, Tyler (Cody) Boone, Olivia (Boone) DeHart. 13 great grandchildren, Trevor and Isaac Blank, Abby, Sidney and Kylie Bragg, Samuel and Noah Hanson, Jackson, Grayson and Addison Boone, Paige and Hallie Hukill and A.J. Blank. Sister in-law, Jane Ann Laufer, nieces, Pamela Snowden, Barbara Gloss and Susan Morales, and several great nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 1:00 PM. Saturday March 9, 2024 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Jamie Sisson officiating. A nurse's honor guard service will also be performed by the Nurses honor guard of the Ohio Valley. Burial will follow at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 until the time of service. A reception will be held following the interment at her daughter Carel's home at 246 Chris Lane Gallipolis.

The family request that instead of flowers, please make contributions in Dorothy's memory to St. Peter's Episcopal Church or to the Bossard Memorial Library both in Gallipolis.
