The Lord called Reverend Edward Buffington from labor to reward on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio at the age of 79.

Eddie was born November 19, 1942, in Pomeroy, Ohio to the Joseph Peter & Ruth James Buffington who preceded him in death.

Eddie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age at Naomi Baptist Church, Pomeroy, Ohio and became a faithful member of the Forest Run Baptist Church, Pomeroy, Ohio.

He graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1962. From 1962 to 1964 he honorably served in the United States Army.  Eddie completed his studies at Kentucky Christian College, Grayson, KY in 1972; became an ordained minister November 11, 1972 and received his Bachelor of Bible from Universal Bible Institute, Birmingham, AL in June, 1976. Additionally, he completed studies with Moody Bible college.

Rev. Buffington pastored five churches since he answered his calling to pastor. His pastoral assignment was at the Providence Baptist Church, Buckridge where he became the pastor in 1995. He served his flock faithfully until his death. Rev. Buffington loved the Lord and loved to preach and teach the Word of God. He had a desire to see the lost saved.

In addition to his ministry Eddie enjoyed golfing and going to flea markets, thrift stores and yard sales. Some knew him as Thunder Chicken, Chicken, Ed or Rev., no matter how you knew him you knew he never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone he came in contact with.

Eddie married Karen Ann Howard May 7, 1976, and she survives him. She served him faithfully by his side in his ministry up until his death.

Along with his wife, those surviving to cherish his memory are sister, Sharon Buffington of Pomeroy, OH; brothers, Don Robert Buffington, Pomeroy, OH and Charles (Sara) Buffington, Flint, MI; sisters-in-law, Carla Buffington of Detroit, MI; Donna Buffington of Middleport, OH; Joy Elizabeth (Robert) Anderson of CA and Dorothy Shelley Howard of Detroit, MI; brother-in-law, Charles Martin of Columbus, OH; a very special niece, Robin Payne, of Bidwell, OH and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, preceding him in death are two brothers; Aaron Buffington and Danny Buffington, Sr.; and two sisters, Joann Martin and Patricia Thompson.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM. Friday November 18, 2022 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Christian Scott of Paint Creek Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Street Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM. till time of service.

Full Military Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the VFW Post 4464 Honor Guard.
