Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we remember the life of Edward Allen Campbell, II, who left us unexpectedly on August 18, 2025. Lovingly called Little Ed by his family, he was a devoted father, loving son, grandson, brother, cousin, and friend.

Born on April 24, 1982 in Gallipolis, Ohio to Edward (Dawn) Campbell and Gina Lear Campbell, he lived a life dedicated to his children- Jade Campbell, James Runyon, and Aubrie Thompson. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his children and visiting his grandmother, Elizabeth Campbell. Endearingly called Buggy, Ed recently wrote the following about Jade, "Trust me that little girl is my whole world." While visiting his grandmother, Ed always requested homemade macaroni and cheese and joked that he always packed extra clothes when he visited, because he never knew what she was going to have him do while visiting. Always willing to help, he would take care of the animals, put furniture together, mow and a variety of other odds and ends. Ed's absence is already felt by the many family and friends that loved him, including his siblings, Tiffany (Andrew) Marquis and Brandon Campbell.

Ed Campbell began working on a river barge at the age of 19. Working his way from a deckhand, Ed died while on the river working as the chief engineer. Even though he spent many holidays on the boat, Ed made sure to message those closest to him. He had a way of making his family feel seen. Though he did not always have an easy life, he remained faithful to working and to his closest family and friends.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Sunday, August 24, 2025 at Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 pm with funeral services at 4:00.

Ed recently wrote, "God has kept me around for some reason." His work on Earth must have been done since God called him home.
