Emmett Raines, age 84, of Gallipolis, died Saturday evening June 11, 2011 at the Arbors at Gallipolis. Born August 15, 1926 in Gallia County. He was the son of the late Harry and Lautia Trowbridge Raines. In addition to his parents he was preceded by 10 brothers and sisters, Lillian Shelton, Laura Sands, Mary White, Lemma Casey, Bertha Glenn, John Raines, Lee Raines, Ollie Swain, Elma Roberts, and Mattie Facemire.
Emmett was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Ada Johnson Raines, 3 Step children, Clara (John) Hale of Jackson, Joseph (Sandra) Saunders Jr. of Gallipolis, and Josh Saunders of Gallipolis.
Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM. Wednesday June 15, 2011 in Pine Street Cemetery with Pastor Ralph Workman officiating. Friends may call at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10:00 -11:00 AM.
