Garland I. 'Chic' Plymale, age 91 of Gallipolis died Thursday February 11, 2021 at his residence. Born October 14, 1929 in the Maple Shade community of Gallipolis, he was the son of the late David 'Pete' and Esther Belle Chick Plymale. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Clarice Harrison Plymale, and a daughter in law, Carolyn Merry.

Chic was a graduate of Gallia Academy High School and was a member of the 'Golden Era' football team at GAHS in 1948. He started his work career at the Kyger Creek Plant then later moved to The Gavin Plant from which he retired as Shift Engineer in 1992 after 29 years of service.

He was a founding member of Cliffside Golf Course, a life member of the Gallipolis Elks Lodge #107, and also held memberships in Morning Dawn Masonic Lodge #7, The Ohio Valley Commandry #24, and a 32-degree Mason with the Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus.

Chic is survived by a son, Richard Plymale of Gallipolis, daughter, Shari (Rick) VanGundy of Gallipolis, grandchildren, Chris (Jodi) Plymale of Liberty Township, Ohio, Chuck Plymale of Bidwell, and Jade VanGundy of Las Vegas, Nevada, great grandchildren, Nicholas and Megan Plymale of Liberty Township, Ohio and Clay Plymale of Huntington, West Virginia.

Friends and family may call at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home on Saturday February 20, 2021 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. Masonic services will be conducted at 3:00 PM by Morning Dawn Lodge #7 and The Elks Memorial Service will be conducted at 3:30 PM by the Gallipolis Elks Lodge #107. Entombment in the Chapel of Hope Mausoleum at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens will occur at a future date.
