Gary Morgan Harrison, age 77, of Gallipolis, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, November 1, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Born May 14, 1948, in Gallia County, he was the son of the late Wayne and Minnie Drummond Harrison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Jim Harrison, Wayne Harrison, Paul Harrison, and Mike Harrison, and by his sisters Rita Beattie, Linda Mayes, and Edith Jackson Callicoat.
Gary retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center, where he worked for over 35 years as a print shop operator. He also refereed high school basketball for more than 35 years and was respected for his dedication to the game.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Gary was an avid supporter of Gallia Academy athletics and rarely missed a chance to cheer on the Blue Devils and Angels. He also enjoyed following the Ohio State Buckeyes, golfing, walking, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud Papaw. Gary was also a member of the Gallipolis Elks Lodge #107.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Donnally Harrison of Gallipolis; son Gary (Jamie) Harrison of Gallipolis and their children, Gage (Hannah), Grant, and Jenna, and their granddaughter, Alora; son Lance (Amanda) Neville of Gallipolis and their children, Ayden, Kolben, and Cannon; and son Duwayne (Kristen) Neville of Youngstown and their children, Sierra and Melanie, and their granddaughter, Onna. Also surviving is his sister, Thelma Harrison Skidmore of Gallipolis.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home, with Pastor Randy Carnes officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Street Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holzer Hospice, 100 Jackson Pike, Gallipolis, OH 45631, in Gary's memory.
