Obituary

Gary Dean Rossiter, age 66 of Gallipolis, died Saturday evening November 28, 2015 at his residence. Born November 30, 1948 in Lawrence Co. OH. He was the son of the late Ova Ray and Nancy Maria Caldwell Rossiter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Barbara Lamm Rossiter, and by four brothers, Merrill, Carl, Wendell, and Bernard Rossiter.
Dean was a United State Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War as a sharpshooter, and he was awarded a Purple Heart. After his time in service he returned home and became a heavy equipment operator, he worked for many years at Crown City Mining Co. He was a former member of the UMWA. Dean loved country and bluegrass music and enjoyed playing along on his guitar. He took a lot of pride in his cars, and loved to mow grass. He also had a love of people, and never met a stranger he couldn't find something to talk about with.
He is survived by, a son, Gary Rossiter Jr. of Gallipolis, a daughter, Jodi (Brian) McQuaid of Gallipolis, a brother, Roger Rossiter of Gallipolis, a sister, Wanda Mohler of Middleport, two grandchildren, Devin and Jax McQuaid both of Gallipolis, a Special friend, Toby O' Neil, special brother in law, Ancel Lamm, and two special nieces, Carla Rossiter and Kim Green. Also surviving are several additional nieces and nephews, and an honorary daughter, Jackie Mullins.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Friday December 4, 2015 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Northup officiating. Burial will follow in Swan Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-9 PM. Full Military Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the United States Army and the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail.
Pallbearers will be: Gary Rossiter Jr., Brian McQuaid, Mike Green, Roger Rossiter, Ancel Lamm, and Wendell Unroe Jr. Honorary Pallbearer will be: Justin Carter.
