George A. Cremeans, 82, of Crown City, Ohio, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 16, 2011.
Born February 5, 1929, in Huntington, WV, he was the son of the late George A. and Gracie Alice Villers Cremeans. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Joann Hughes Cremeans; an infant son; brother Lewis (Eleanor); and sister Margaret (Charles "Chuck") Garlinger. He is survived by his brother, Bernard "Butch" (Becky); seven children, Karen Sue (Terry) Van Horn of Columbus, OH; Mike (Pat) Cremeans of Gallipolis, OH; Vickie (Jack) Parsons, of Garner, NC; Gwen Roach (Allen Drummond) of Gallipolis, OH; Charlie (Regina) Cremeans of Winfield, WV; Mark (Cindy) Cremeans of Gallipolis, OH; and Callie (David) McCarty of Glasgow, KY.; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.
George served in the US Navy during World War II and was retired from C.J. Hughes Construction Company, Huntington, WV.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2011, at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Parsons officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.
