Gerald Lynden Rankin, age 68, of Crown City, died Wednesday August 10, 2011 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Born July 3, 1943 in Crown City, he was the son of the late Samuel Craig and Olive Marie Barry Rankin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by 2 brothers, Don Rankin and Lloyd 'Dutch' Rankin and by 1 sister, Eloise Hall.
Gerald was truck driver, retiring from the Yellow Freight Co. He attended the Mercerville Baptist Church and had served in the National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Hall Rankin who he married on August 9, 1969 in Crown City, 1 son, Craig Rankin of Crown City, 4 grandchildren, William Craig Rankin, Abigail Jo Rankin, Jacob Daniel Rankin and Maggie Arlene Rankin. 1 brother, Jack (Edna) Rankin.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Saturday August 13, 2011 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Warner officiating. Burial will follow in Crown City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6-9 PM.
