Gerry Louise Rothgeb, age 69, of Gallipolis, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, August 9, 2013 at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio, with her family at her bedside, holding her hands. She was born at Eno, Ohio on October 19, 1943 and was the daughter of the Late Wendell James and dear mother, Esther Reynolds James who survives Gerry. Gerry was a member of the New Life Lutheran Church of Gallipolis.
In addition to her father, she was preceded by her father in law, Dale Rothgeb Sr. and by a brother in law, Dale Rothgeb Jr.
She married Robert Rothgeb on July 26, 1960 and they just celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. They have one precious son, Jim (Joyce) Rothgeb and a step granddaughter Erika Fox. Gerry was a loving wife and mother. Her smile will always be remembered by her family and many friends.
Gerry is also survived by her mother in law, Glenna Rothgeb of Gallipolis, sister, Martha (David) Kelley of Gallipolis; 3 brothers in law: Kenneth (Donna) Rothgeb of North Augusta, South Carolina, David Lee Rothgeb of Gallipolis, and Mickey (Teresa) Rothgeb of Chillicothe, Ohio; 3 nephews; 3 nieces; special best friend and traveling companion, Eleanor Elliott, and dog friend, Jill.
Gerry worked for many years as a Paramedic for Gallia County. She retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center on November 1, 2004 with 25 years of service.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Tuesday August 13, 2013 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery, Cheshire, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM. Until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Jim Rothgeb, Kenneth Rothgeb, David Lee Rothgeb, Mickey Rothgeb, Michael Kelley and Steve Kelley. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Poling and David Kelley.
