Gordon E. Roth, age 85 of Gallipolis, died Tuesday evening March 2, 2021 at the Holzer Assisted Living Center. Born May 6, 1935 in Hopedale, OH, he was the son of the late Fred and Alberta Evans Roth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother Ina Wood Roth, brother Fred Roth, daughter Vickie Day, stepdaughter Ann McMahon Sickels, and a granddaughter Christy Roth.
He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa. Gordon and Ruth Ann loved an adventure, traveling to Switzerland, New York City, Florida, and many other places, keeping maps of every destination, in addition to collecting coins and stamps! He was an avid Marshall football fan and supporter of the Ohio Valley Symphony. He loved attending any activity his grandchildren participated in from football to the ballet. Gordon was a retired employee of OVEC, where he spent his career at the Kyger Creek Power Plant. He was a member of the Gallipolis Elks Lodge #107, Morning Dawn Lodge #7, the Aladdin Temple Shrine, and the Gallipolis Shrine Club. He was also a faithful member of Christ Episcopal Church in Point Pleasant.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Ann Roth, son Jeffrey Roth of Tampa, FL, and stepdaughter Pam (David) Price of South Charleston, WV, grandchildren, Ana (Shawn) Burns, Jennifer (Anthony) Pearce, Leslie (Ray Carannante) Sickels, Brad (Danielle) Price, Eric (Jill) Price, Summer (Thomas) Witkop, and Brittany Roth along with 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
The family extends their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Holzer Assisted Living for their compassion and for bringing him into their family for his final years.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Father Ray Hage officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Shawn Burns, Brad Price, Eric Price, Gavin Roth, and Ryan Burns. The honorary pallbearer will be Jim Roush.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Holzer Foundation or the Ariel Opera House, Home of The Ohio Valley Symphony.
