Gregory L. Carter, age 72 of Rio Grande, died Saturday September 3, 2022 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Born November 14, 1949 in Gallipolis, he was the son of the late J. Merrill and Marguerite Pitchford Carter. Greg owned and operated an autobody repair shop for many years.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            He was a very talented designer, engineer, builder and mechanic. He loved his family especially his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. For many years he and his daughter raced in both soap box derby and go cart racing, this led them to travel to 42 states racing where they won numerous awards and trophies.                                                                                                                                                                He is survived by his daughter, Braunlyn (Steven) Call of Murfreesboro, TN, 2 grandchildren, Gracin and Carter Call, a brother, David (Cecilia) Carter of Patriot and his beloved cat Princess.                                                                                                                                                             In honoring Greg's wishes, he will be cremated and no services are being scheduled.                                                                                            In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the funeral home to help with his final expenses.                                                                            Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home is assisting the family.                                                                                                                                  An online guest registry is available at waugh-halley-wood.com
