Helen K. Lowder, age 90, of Kettering, Ohio died on Saturday March 21, 2015 at the Kettering Medical Center. Born June 6, 1924 in the Cora Community of Gallia County. She was the daughter of the late Nevin H. and Lenora Root wood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by 6 siblings, Alma Vera Wood, Elizabeth Eileen Lowder, Wilma Jean Wood, Thomas Eugene Wood, Harland Sidney Wood, and Joann Miller.
Helen was a 1942 graduate of Rio Grande High School. She was a former employee of the Ohio Hospital for Epileptics (OHE) in Gallipolis, and a homemaker. She was a member of the Westwood Baptist Church since 1948 (later renamed the Far Hills Baptist Church) and attended the Blessed Hope Baptist Church in later years.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Elva Lowder of Kettering, who she married on December 8, 1942 in Gallipolis. One son, John E. Lowder of Cincinnati, one daughter, Wilma Joyce (Ralph) Glass of Las Vegas, two grandchildren, Laura D. Kistler of Las Vegas, and Kristin Grimm of Las Vegas. Three great grandchildren, Jensyn Jersey, Joshua Zachrison, and Gillian Grimm. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Saturday March 28, 2015 at the French City Baptist Church with Pastors Mark Williams and H.C. O'Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Old Pine Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from Noon until the time of service. Pallbearers will be: John Lowder, Ralph Glass, Joshua Zachrison, Kirk Grimm, Tony Miller, and Kevin Terry.
