Irene
Hansen
Mar 12, 1931 — Nov 25, 2017
Patriot
There, on their family farm near Centerpoint, Irene raised their two daughters, Vickie and Vivian, while raising cattle, tobacco and all the duties a farm requires. She grew a large vegetable garden each year, canning and preparing food, while generously giving to anyone in need. Irene was an active member of Morning Star Chapter, Eastern Star for many years and continued to be involved at Simpson United Methodist Church in Rio Grande, as well as the Gallia County Conservation Club. Her warm companionship and unbridled zest of life, earned her many close friendships and the affectionate name "Grandma" or "Mee-Ma" by those who loved her most. Her home was always open to family visitors alike and the family homestead was much loved by all.
Two years ago, Irene laid to rest her husband of 67 years, after saying goodbye to both parents, a sister, Connie Goble Cox, sister-in-law, Janet Hughes Goble and numerous loved ones throughout her life, although her passing reunites her with those already gone, Irene left behind a large family who will greatly miss her lively disposition and gently counsel. Included in that list are her two loving daughters, Vicki (John) Wellington of Patriot, and Vivian (Bill) Conley of Gallipolis; two brothers, Gordon (Donna) Goble of Gallipolis and Jerry (Valarie) Goble of Moundsville, WV; five grandchildren, Jason (Missy) Wellington of Patriot, Erin (Darrick) Knapp of Zanesville, Brad (Lesley) Wellington of Rio Grande, Beth (George) Caison of Clover, SC, and Steven (Amanda) Conley of Gallipolis, and also a special friend, Blake Arnott, who Irene considered as her grandson, and sixteen great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Asher, Elijah, Ben, and Will Wellington, Aiden, Samuel, and Seth Knapp, Isaac and Isla Grace Caison, and Austin, Ian, Brady, Beau, Jayla, and Avery. Irene's seventeenth great-grandchild, baby girl Conley is due to arrive any day.
We ask that you please join us in the celebration of such a beautiful life at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 29 th at Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home in Gallipolis.
