James Edward "Jim" Baughman, age 85, of Gallipolis, Ohio, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 23, 2025. Born on New Year's Day in 1940, as the bells rang in a new decade, Jim brought joy and warmth to those around him throughout his life.

He was the beloved son of Delmas Cornelius and Ernestine Jewel (Sheets) Baughman, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Alice Chasteen and Patty Milam, and his brother-in-law, Noble Milam.

Jim is survived by his son, James D. Baughman, and daughter, Amber Fields; his grandsons, Colton (Kerigan) Arrington and James G. Baughman; and his nieces and nephews: Faith (Doug) Behringer, Mary (Doug) Grubb, Michael (Robin) Milam, and Jamie Milam.  He also leaves behind many extended family members and lifelong friends who he cherished.

Jim's working life reflected his strong work ethic and wide-ranging talents. While in college, he drove truck for construction companies and later became a bulk milk truck owner and operator. He went on to begin a career in education, teaching at Washington Courthouse and Rio Grande Elementary before serving as principal of Green Elementary. Though he was pursuing a doctorate in elementary education, Jim ultimately left the classroom to follow his lifelong dream of farming, a vocation he truly loved and dedicated himself to for the rest of his life.

He was a proud graduate of Rio Grande University with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and earned his Master's in Elementary Education from West Virginia University.

Beyond his career and farm, Jim's greatest passions were drag racing and raising and selling show cattle. He treasured the friendships, the thrill of competition, and the many memories and accomplishments they brought him.

Jim lived a life grounded in faith, family, and quiet strength. He will be remembered for his kind spirit, steady presence, and unwavering love for those he held dear.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
