The extraordinary life of James "Jim" D. Swain, 79, of Milford Center, OH, ended on this earth, but began again in Heaven, on Saturday, November 12, with his loving family at his side.
He was born in Gallipolis, OH, on election day, November 4, 1932 to the late Mildred (Porter) and Curtis Swain. Jim was an Army Vet (1954-56) who proudly served in Germany as a member of the Signal Corp. Upon his return home, Jim was employed as an auditor for the US Department of Agriculture from 1958 until his retirement in 1988.
A main focus of Jim's life was his devotion to his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with them, especially on vacations that they took together. When his beloved Kerri became disabled in 2003, he happily accepted a role in her care. He spent every day with her during her three month hospital stay and continued that love and care until his death.
Jim is survived, and will be deeply missed, by his devoted wife of 57 years, Virginia (Conley), sons: David Swain and wife Virginia, Stephen and wife Karen, and Russell and wife Theta, beloved grandchildren: Kerri Lyn, Amber Leigh, James David III, and Annie Lee; extended family; and five granddogs: Max, Erma, Clark, Casey, and Daisy.
Jim: We love you and we miss you already, but we are hapy that you are now at peace and thankful that the Lord has called you home.
