James Albert (Jay) Hammond Jr. age 70, of Gallipolis, died Monday May 21, 2012 at his residence. Jay was born on November 28, 1941 in Logan County, West Virginia, to the late James Albert Hammond Sr. and Lois Virginia Gamble Hammond. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by two brothers, Donald Ray and Raymond Hammond and by two sisters, Charlotte Sanders and Ann Nuckles.
Jay is survived by his three daughters, Teresa (Jon) Kozan of Castle Rock, Arizona, Robin (Steve) Birney of Bradenton, Florida, and Lori (Don) Leasure of Pomeroy.
Also survived by sisters, Betty Long of Gallipolis, and Maxine Hammond of Carlisle, KY., brother, Robert (Loretta) Hammond of Miller, OH., sister, Linda (George) Owens of Laurens, SC., brother, David Hammond of Bidwell, and sister Judy (Darrell) Haney of Bidwell.
Jay is also survived by ten grandchildren, Alex, Sam, and Ben Kozan, of Castle Rock, AZ., James Joseph (J.) McKinness, Christopher McKinness, Abigail Birney and Emily Birney of Bradenton, FL., Edward Hammond of Rio Grande OH., Jonathan Bollweg and Lecia Leasure of Pomeroy, OH.
Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Rio Christian Church on Monday May 28, 2012 at 11:00 AM. with Jeff Patrick officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
