James Walter Shane

December 16, 1943 – July 17, 2016

James W. Shane, age 73, of Gallipolis, died unexpectedly Sunday morning in Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Letart Falls, Ohio, to Walter Eugene Shane and Eunice Geraldine Sayre Shane. James, also known as Jimmy, served in the U.S. Army and was a proud veteran. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after more than 30 years of service. His joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren, visiting Columbus, Ohio, for holidays and long visits. He loved to have long conversations and make others laugh and visit often with friends. He enjoyed coffee and dinner at Bob Evans quite often, as well as late night shopping. Jimmy's hobbies included collecting art, fine jewelry, drawing, and guns. He was a member of Good News Baptist Church. He will be sadly missed and remembered for his special ways. He is survived by son, Chad (Erica) Shane, and daughters, Lori Golden and Lisa Wolfe Allen; grandchildren, Christopher, Jarod, Bradon, Jade, Asia, Nina, Cesar, Leo, Zach, Alex, Cody, and Hannah; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Dior, and Coraline; and several cousins.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Friday July 22, 2016 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from Noon until the time of service.
Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail.
