Jerry Lee Shelton, age 75, of Gallipolis, passed away on Sunday November 10, 2013 at his residence. Born May 22, 1938 in Gallipolis he was the son of the late Raymond and Lexie Childers Shelton.
Jerry was a 1956 graduate of Gallia Academy High School. He was a United States Navy Veteran, serving in the submarine service. He retired from M&G Polymer Corp in Apple Grove, WV. Jerry was a member of Morning Dawn Lodge #7, Aladdin Temple Shrine, member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Gallipolis Elks Lodge #7, and he attended Fellowship Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Blankenship Shelton, 1 daughter, Dr. Angela (Chris) Shelton Craft of Gallipolis, 2 step grandchildren, Dallas and Kelle Craft, 1 brother, Keith (Joan) Shelton of Melbourne, FL. 5 brothers in law, Gary (Patti Sue) Blankenship of Nancy, KY. Richard (Lynda) Blankenship of Tucson, AZ. Keith (Lisa) Blankenship of Macon, GA. Dwight (Liz) Blankenship of Phoenix, AZ. Dean (Leah) Blankenship of Tucson, AZ. Several nieces and nephews and 3 special friends, Jack Richards of Gallipolis, Jim Harris of Gallipolis and Truman 'Harry' Burnett Jr. of Myrtle Beach SC.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM. Wednesday November 13, 2013 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Phillip Walker officiating. An Elks PER Memorial service will also be conducted. Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the funeral home by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hamid an the nurses and pharmacist at Holzer Cancer Center who cared for Jerry with compassion and care, and the staff of Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home for their concern and kindness.
