Jimmy Myers (Grandpa) Salyer, 85, of Gallipolis died peacefully on Sunday, December 16, 2018. Born in Dante, VA to the late Plez and Myrtle Salyer, Jimmy and his wife Alice Tarr were married in 1956. Jimmy was a lifelong coal miner and moved his family to Gallipolis in 1973. He retired from Southern Ohio Coal Company. Jimmy never met a stranger and was an avid storyteller. He loved to spend time with his kids and grandkids and was known as Grandpa or Pappy to many. Jimmy was an active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and served on several committees and boards. He also served on the boards of The French Art Colony and The Gallia County Housing Authority.

He is survived by his wife Alice of 62 years; his daughters and sons-in-law Libby and Tom Wiseman of Gallipolis and Marty and Mike Coles of Manlius, NY; grandchildren Jimmy Wiseman and his children Addison and Reid, Matt and Tiffany Wiseman and their daughter Schylar, Caitlin Coles, Abby and Brayden Greer (expecting his 4 ^th great- grandchild), Megan Coles; many nieces and nephews and his dog Riley.

He was preceded in death by his infant child Jimmy and his siblings Ganes, Bobby, Oleta Robinson, Winona Perry, Ray, and Patty Vicars.

Visitation to celebrate Jimmy's life will be at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Saturday, December 22 ^nd at 2:00 PM. Services will directly follow at 3:00 PM with Reverend Father AJ Stack officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 541 2nd Ave, Gallipolis, OH 45631 in Jimmy's name.
