John Charles Payne, age 59, of Gallipolis died Saturday, May 21, 2016, at his home. Born February 20, 1957, in Streator, IL, he was the son of the late Glenn and Regina Elias Payne.
He is survived by his wife, Deb Payne of Gallipolis; three sons, Josh (Noel) Payne of Bloomington, IL, Bryan (Yesli) Payne of Morton, IL and Scott (Jennifer) Kiper of Pittsburgh, PA; three grandchildren, Finn, Clay, and Brynn; five siblings, Janice (Ray) Moss of Freeport, IL, Carol (Kenneth) Brookman of Ottawa, IL, Kathy (Keith) Moffatt of Freeport, IL, Kenneth (Mary) Payne of Lima, OH and Richard (Robin) Payne of Gurnee, IL. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
John loved and cherished every moment with his family, including his pets: Belmo, Riley, and Roxy. He was an accomplished cook and shared his talents with his family and church family at St. Louis Catholic Church where he was a member. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and was awarded the Knight of the year in 2015. John never judged anyone, and strangers quickly became friends because he always treated them like family. We should all strive to follow his virtues.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM. Thursday May 26, 2016 at St. Louis Catholic Church, with Monsignor William Myers and Father Thomas Hamm officiating. Friends may call at the church on Thursday one hour prior to services.
