Our Heavenly Father called Joyce Margaret Anderson, age 77, of Gallipolis, Ohio, to her celestial home at 1:30 a.m. on June 21, 2013 at Holzer Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born March 26, 1936 in Gallipolis, Ohio the daughter of the late Robert Hugh Anderson and Ora Hattie Lee Anderson. Joyce was raised in Maple Shade and attended Lincoln School. She worked at Oscars Restaurant, and various domestic jobs as well as care of the sick and elderly in our community. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Gallipolis, Ohio.
Surviving are her sisters, Arnetta Anderson Dexter, Gallipolis, and Ruth Anderson Jackson, Oklahoma City, OK. Although she never married and had no children, she had many nieces and nephews, great and small, as well as cousins, and friends, the newest relative being a great, great, great niece, Caylee Dawn Coen.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her sister, Janet Mae Anderson, and her brother Christopher Robert Anderson.
Memorial service will be held Thursday, June 27, 2013, at the First Baptist Church, Gallipolis, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Alvis Pollard officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the beginning of the service. Entombment will follow at Pine Street Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Chase Coen, Blake Harris, Gatian Justice, Ontrai Davis, Andy Gilmore, Edward Griffin, James Griffin and Rylie Williams.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Charles Hollinshed, Christopher Anderson, Rod Gordon, Morris Hogan, Clarence Jackson, Michael Casey, and Robert Armstrong.
The family would like to give special thanks to Kim Wooldridge and Ohio Valley Home Health staff, Dr. Hamid and staff at Holzer Center for Cancer Care, and to Dr. Gerald E. Vallee and staff of Holzer Health Systems.
