Leah May Schoonover, age 88, of Gallipolis passed away Saturday May 7, 2022 at the Ohio State University. Born November 9, 1933 in Chillicothe, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Claude Swann and Allene Davis Swann-Dillon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, William Homer "Bill" Schoonover, step mother, Margaret Swann, 1 brother, Robert Swann, and by 1 infant sister, Ginny Swann.

Leah was a homemaker and a faithful member of the Faith Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Gallipolis Garden Club. Her great grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Leah is survived by her daughter, Kim (John) VanMeter of Gallipolis, 2 Grandchildren, Andrea (Jerrod) Roberts, and Jonathan (Jennifer) VanMeter both of Gallipolis, 6 Great Grandchildren, Shiloh Roberts, Hannah Roberts, Abigail Roberts, Keaton VanMeter, Kinsley VanMeter, and Maddison Newell, 2 Brothers, Joe (Cathy) Swann of FL, and Eddie (Shirley) Swann of FL, Special Cousin, Ann Haffelt of Gallipolis, and by several close friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM. Wednesday May 11, 2022 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Lusher officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 PM. till 8 PM.

Pall bearers: John VanMeter, Jonathan VanMeter, Jerrod Roberts, Wayne Schoonover, Jeff Schoonover, and Bobby Schoonover.

Honorary Pall Bearers: Joe Swann and Eddie Swann.
