Lee Fletcher Burcham, age 90 of Gallipolis, died Friday evening February 12, 2016. Born March 13, 1925 in Chambersburg, Gallia County, he was the son of the late Don and Ruth Lanthorn Burcham. In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded by his wife, Frances Geraldine Swain Burcham, by a half-brother, Robert Montgomery.
Lee was a Tow Boat Captain on the Ohio, Kanawha, and Green Rivers, retiring from AEP River Transportation on March 1, 1990 after 44 years of service.. He was a World War II Navy Veteran. He was a member of Morning Dawn Lodge #7, VFW Post 4464, American Legion Post 27, DAV, AMVETS, The Military Order of the Cooties, 40 & 8, and served on the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail for many years.
He is survived by two children, Judy (Charles) Bush of Jackson, and Jerry Burcham of Jackson, four grandchildren, Amanda (Kurtis) Strickland, Brad (Dawne) Bush, Marybeth Burcham, and Leanna Burcham. Five great grandchildren, Grace Bush, William Strickland, Walker Strickland, Avery Bush, and Wyatt Strickland. Also surviving is a half-sister, Mary (Raymond) Walburn of Middleport.
Graveside services will be 1:00 PM. Monday February 15, 2016 at Pine Street Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Workman officiating. Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail.
