Obituary

Libby Gay Crothers, age 77, of Crown City, passed away on Friday April 14, 2017 at Holzer Medical Center. Born February 3, 1940 in Huntington, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Libby D. Mays Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her Husband, Alton Bates Crothers, Sisters, Opal Marcum, Janet May Shephard, Virginia Hemphill, Ruth Swartz, Mary Jo Porter, a Brother, Ronald Bill Shephard, and a Sister in law, Charisse Knight.

Libby was very proud to have served in the U.S. Army; she later went to work at and retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center.

Libby is survived by her Children, Catherine A. Bias, Deborah D. (John) Queen, James A. Bartley, Gerald s. (Kimberly) Truesdell, Grandchildren, Steven (Brittany) Truesdell, Erica (John) Harless, Sylvia Truesdell, Christina Bias, Christopher Bias, Justin Bias, David (Betty) Bastes, and Matthew Bates, 11 Great Grandchildren, 2 brothers, Raymond Wes (Judy) Shephard, Arthur 'Butch' Knight, a Brother in law, Paul Porter, Also surviving are her special nieces, Roxie Brumfield, Jenny Jo Huffman, Patty Griffith and Mary Slayton and many other loving Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Thursday April 20, 2017 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in St. Nick Cemetery where Military Funeral Honors will be presented by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7-9 PM.

Pallbearers will be: David Bates, Matt Bates, Steven Truesdell, Christopher Bias, Justin Bias and John Harless.
