Obituary

Lillian Irene Mayo Morgan Hurt died on Tuesday May 3, 2016 at the home of her daughter. She was born at Kerr, Ohio on May 30, 1916. Her parents were George and Alice Hill Mayo. She had one brother, Hollis Mayo. Her parents died in the flu epidemic in the early 1900's and she and her brother were raised by their aunt Kate Hill who was 16 years old at the time. Lillian married James Morgan and they had three children, James Randolph, Rose Marie and Howard Franklin. They were divorced and she later married John Hurt. There were no children. Both husbands preceded her in death as well as her oldest son, James Randolph.
James and his wife Ellen had 10 children, Teresa, Randy, Michael, Deborah, Matthew, Steven, Mark, Timothy, Lydia and John Earl. Rose Marie had three daughters, Carla, Jane and Shirl. Howard had four children, Angela, Curtis, Christopher and Rod. She is survived by a host of grandchildren, and great grandchildren as well as the children of her brother Alice Jean and Stanley.
Lillian leaves behind many, many friends. Beside her church family there are the residents of the Frenchtown Apartments where she lived, the staff and attendees of the Gallia County Senior Center as well as the chorus, Yesterday's Kids. Lillian rode the bus to and from the Senior Center five days a week and was very fond of the drivers. She loved to be picked up first and ride with them on their route. She wished to celebrate her 100th birthday and have it announced by Willard Scott, former weather man on NBC. She will be greatly missed.
The family is grateful to Dr. Christopher Marazon, Holzer Hospice, the staff of Ohio Valley Health, the Gallia County Senior Center, Yesterday's Kids, the residents of Frenchtown Apartments, and all her many friends and well wishers.
