Obituary

Louis R. 'Buster' Green, age 99, of Gallipolis, 'Went home to be with his Lord' on Saturday May 28, 2011 at Holzer Medical Center. Born January 22, 1912 in Gallipolis. He was the son of the late Louis R. Green Sr. and Pearl Gates Smith Green. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by 8 brothers and sisters.
Buster was a United States Army Veteran, serving in World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. In 1946 he went to work for the United States Postal Service from which he retired in 1972.
He was a member of Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church.
Buster is survived by one sister, Mildred Lee of Gallipolis, 61 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews. He will be loved and missed by his family and all that knew him.
Buster will be remembered for taking walks during the warm months, watching construction sites and singing in the Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church choir.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Friday June 3, 2011 at the Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Melvin Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Street Cemetery. Friends may call at the Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral home on Thursday from 6-9 PM.
Pallbearers will be: William S. Penick, Charles F. Penick, James E. Penick, Xavier Savage, Aaron Penick, Thurman Holliday.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jon Pierre Penick, Zachary savage, Eric Penick, Jacob Penick, and Shawn Holliday.
Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
