Obituary

Margaret Ann Hall-Smith age 85 of Patriot, died Thursday September 1, 2022 at the Emogene Dolan Jones Hospice House in Huntington. Born October 30, 1936 in Springfield, OH she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Eleine Burke Kingery. In addition to her parents Margaret was preceded by her husband and father of her children, Robert Lee Hall. Later in life she met and married Colonel John Smith, USAF (Retired) who also precedes her. Margaret was the oldest and the last of her family being preceded by, 3 brothers, Stanley, David and Arnold Kingery and a sister, Ruth Kingery. She was also preceded by a granddaughter, Jessica Roach.

Margaret was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend who also welcomed many children into her home as a foster mother. She spent many years of her life dedicated to the youth of Gallia County, first as a bus driver and then as a teacher. She graduated from Gallia Academy High School and later in life she obtained her teaching degree from the University of Rio Grande. She was a wonderful Christian woman who had great faith in the saving grace of her savior, Jesus Christ. She taught both children and adult Sunday School over the years. She was an adventurist who loved to travel,and made lasting friendships with people everywhere she went. Her travels included several trips to New Zealand, Hawaii and Canada along with many others.

She is survived by her children, Robert Stephen (Nila) Hall of Patriot, Julie Annette (David) Kazee of Letart and Jody Bethanne (Jeff) Johnson of Patriot. Grandchildren, Amanda Secoy, Stephen (Arissa) Hall, Isaiah (Christina) Roach, Joseph Pace, Chelsea (Brady) Nolan, Lynnzee (Nick) Kazee, John (Brittany) Kazee, James Kazee and Kayla Burton. Great Grandchildren, Cameron Cooper, Jesse (Cory) Roach-Fisher, Katelyn Roach-Fisher, Annie Pace, Addison Nolan and Gabe Kazee. Great Great Grandchildren, Violet Cooper, Victoria Roach-Fisher, Cloud Roach- Fisher, and Gunner Roach-Fisher. Also surviving are her special friends, Margaret Adkins, Jackie Hall-Lewis and Peggy Johnson.

Funeral services for Margaret will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday September 10,2022 at the Bethesda Church with Pastor Troy Delaney officiating. Burial will follow in Bethesda Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM till the time of service. Margaret loved this little country church and the people she attended with,and loved being there when her health allowed.
