Mary Jean Hout, age 87, of Gallipolis, died Monday October 23, 2017 at her home.

Born May 19, 1930 in Richie, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Carlton and Ethel Ely Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, George A. Hout Jr.

Mary retired from the Gallipolis City Schools, where she worked as a secretary. She was a Life Time member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by: 2 Sons, Robert Carlton Hout of Marietta and George Andrew 'Andy' (Lea) Hout of Gallipolis, 1 daughter, Mary Yvonne (Bill) Sims of Nashville, Tennessee, 4 grandchildren, Andy Hout, Rachael Hout, Jeremy (Julie) Hout, and Angela (Anthony) Lemley, 4 Great Grandchildren, Elizabeth Hout, Nathan Hout, Layton Lemley and Braxton Lemley.

Graveside services will be 11:00 AM. Wednesday October 25, 2017 at Mound Hill Cemetery with Ann Moody officiating.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to The First Presbyterian Church or to Holzer Hospice in Mary's memory.
