Obituary

Mary S. Weaver, age 88, of Gallipolis, died Thursday November 19, 2015 at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson. Born October 5, 1927 in Kermit, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William Harlan and Emma Gertrude Stuart Stepp. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded by her husband, Lowell E. 'Barney' Weaver, by two brothers, two sisters, and a niece.
Mary was a graduate of Huntington Business College. She retired as a medical secretary, having worked at the Huntington VA and at Holzer Clinic. She attended Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed music, dancing, reading, playing the piano, and 'playing in the dirt', (gardening). She was an avid WVU, Marshall and OSU fan. A devoted and loving, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she always enjoyed any family gathering, and never met a stranger.
She is survived by a daughter, Jenny Savakinas of New Albany, three sons, Thomas (Jeannene) Weaver of Rio Grande, Tim Weaver of Bidwell, and Mark 'Boo' Weaver of Grove City. Four grandchildren, Michael Savakinas, Matt (Danni) Weaver, Chrissy (Ed) Miller, and Alex Savakinas. Three great grandchildren, Bryson Miller, Maddie Miller, and Easton Weaver, a brother, John (Betty) Stepp of Huntington, a sister, Mildred Maynard of St. Petersburg, FL. and a sister in law, Virginia Ann Buck.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM. Monday November 23, 2015 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Lamphier officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7 PM.
Pallbearers will be: Matt Weaver, Alex Savakinas, Charles Stepp, Kenneth Stepp, Jeff Golgi, Chuck Derifield, Steve Buck, and Lewis Hale Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Bryson Miller and Easton Weaver.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to, Grace United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society in Mary's memory.
