Melvin Douglas “Doug” Elliott, age 64 of Mudsoc, passed away August 5, 2026 at Holzer Medical Center after an extended illness. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation where he was employed as a Project Inspector. Doug was born January 5, 1962 in Ironton, and was lovingly raised in Mudsoc by Ralph and Clara Elliott who preceded him in death. Also preceding him were his inlaws, Carroll and Dolores Baker, and Janice Elliott Davis. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Debra (Maria), whom he married on February 18, 1984 at Fox Fairview Church; their eldest son, Forrest Douglas and his wife, Maggie; their eldest daughter, Emily Ruth and her husband, Jeremy Whealdon; and their youngest son, Niles Carroll and his wife, Michaela. He was blessed with four extraordinary granddaughters: Ella Ruth, Gracie Jean, Lorelei Veda, and Freya Maria. Also surviving are his siblings: Dottie and Robert Fellure, Wayne and Lana Elliott, Diana and PJ Gauze, Don and Deborah Elliott; and close friend, Larry Ruff. Family and friends are invited to attend a Remembrance Gathering at the Patriot Masonic Hall on Saturday, August 15th at 1:00. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Holzer Hospice and Holzer 4West for their care and compassion..
