Opal Lee Saunders, age 88, of Bidwell, died Wednesday February 1, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Born October 6, 1928 in Gallia County, she was the daughter of the late Wyman and Esta Beaver Caldwell. In additional to her parents, she was preceded by a son, Robert 'Bob' Saunders, by 3 brothers, Roy, James and William Caldwell by an infant sister, Jane Ann Caldwell and by a great great grandchild, Brylee Stutes.

Opal was a homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, William H. 'Hud' Saunders, 2 daughters, Bonnie (Jim) Stutes of Gallipolis and Sande (Sam) Eisnaugle of Galloway. 6 grandchildren, Preston (Mindy) Eisnaugle, Michael Stutes, Kim (Mark) Thompson, Jacob (Sarah) Saunders, Jordan (Chelsea) Saunders and Jessica (Bruce) Young, 8 great grandchildren, Elizabeth and John Thompson, Tyler Watson, Bretton (Kelsey Blackburn) Stutes, Preston Eisnaugle, Chantz Eisnaugle, Lilliann Saunders and Owen Saunders, 1 great great grandson, Carsten Stutes, 1 brother, Kenneth Caldwell of Florida, 4 sisters, Alma McDonald of Washington Court House, Hazel DeVault of Columbus, Kate Butcher and Aljean Caldwell both of Florida.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Saturday February 4, 2017 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor John O'Brien officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Hope Mausoleum at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
